10 Content Marketing Examples and Ideas That Are Perfect for Moving Companies

What is Content Marketing?

Companies use content marketing strategies in order to attract the attention of potential new customers and then retain them long enough to gain their business.

These strategies are not simply producing content but creatively weaving content in a way to make it interesting.

Here is a list of steps you want to follow before you start implementing content marketing in your moving business:

Designate someone to be in charge of your content marketing
Define the mission or purpose of your marketing
Publish daily or at least very regularly
Publish content that is popular with modern culture to gain audience attention
Choose between using a branded or unbranded content hub
Optimize subscriber building
Implement Content Marketing ROI to determine your engagement and reachability
Once you have looked at these steps, you can look at several content marketing examples of techniques to use for your moving company.

Content Marketing Examples

When implementing content marketing techniques for your business there are many ways to creatively draw attention. Let’s look at 10 examples of content marketing techniques you can use.

1. Blogging

Blogging is a great starting point for content marketing. It allows you to draw attention to your social media presence and attract followers. Here are a few blogs of companies that are successful:

Buffer
Hubspot
Rip Curl
Write an article about several things that stand out about your moving company and title it something like “5 Reasons Our Moving Company is Unique.”

2. SEO through Social Media

Social media platforms are incredibly important when marketing for your business. Followers and visitors who share your content generate more traffic for you by indirectly helping your SEO search rankings.

An example of this technique is Lush cosmetics. Lush encourages social media users to post pictures or videos of their products with hashtags for Lush cosmetics which puts their products in front of many more potential customers.

By implementing SEO tactics on their social media platforms, they have generated over 4 million followers!

3. Video Content

Consider driving awareness for your brand through video ads. YouTube is the ideal platform for video ads and a great example of a company that used this strategy is Hootsuite.

They took the popular show “Game of Thrones” and grabbed the attention of viewers to weave this topic into their brand. They titled their video “A Game of Social Thrones” and then proceeded to tell a relatable story.

4. Images

Images with the fewest words possible tend to be the most powerful. Instagram is a great platform example for using images to generate business.

A perfect example of a company that uses top-notch photography techniques when marketing their products is Rolex. This iconic watch brand relays the timelessness of their timepieces through pictures that emanate quality.

5. Pithy Slogans

You want to designate a creative person or hire someone specifically to come up with a creative saying consumers can associate with your brand. A great place to find someone for the job is Upwork.com.

Here is a list of several companies with incredibly successful slogans:

Nike: “Just Do it!”
KFC: “It’s finger-lickin’ good”
Dunkin’ Doughnuts: “America runs on Dunkin’”
Coca-Cola: “Open Happiness”
McDonalds: “I’m lovin’ it”
If you can hire someone to come up with a witty saying that encapsulates your business the way creative writers wrote ones for these successful business examples, then they are worth their weight in gold!

6. Create an App

Charmin has a great reputation of incorporating humor into their ads but that’s not all they have done to build their success.

Another one of their successful marketing strategies is their development of the “Sit or Squat” app. This app allows people to find the nearest and cleanest public bathrooms to their location.

So far, their app has boasted over 100,000 downloads!

7. Resources and Ebooks

Simply Business is an insurance firm located in the UK. Sounds boring right? Wrong. They actually produce ebook guides and resource tips for other small businesses from event planning to local moving companies.

One example they’ve written is “The small business guide to Facebook.” They have generated thousands of shares and likes from their customer audience, boosting their company visibility and driving traffic to their site.

8. Personalization

It’s basically guaranteed you have heard of Coke’s “Share a Coke” campaign unless you have been living under a rock. Coke targeted consumers with a personalization tactic.

The reason this campaign was so successful was that its products incorporated 150 of the most popular names on the packaging. The emotional connection between buyers and the coke products are what made the bottles fly off the shelves.

9. Infographics

People generally are in love with reliable data displayed in a simple manner. These data report images are shared by social media users all the time.

Shutterstock is an example of a company that uses infographics. Since their business consists of images, they have created a resource that anyone can use called a creative trends report.

10. Relatable Humor

Does anyone else watch the Superbowl just for the Geico Car Insurance commercials? Geico is the perfect example of a company that could be considered a boring service but uses humor to make its company anything but boring.

Not only do they incorporate humor in their commercials, but they employ slant humor between their name and their mascot. In some dialects “Geico” can be the pronunciation of the word “gecko” and by associating their mascot of a lizard with their name, they achieve the goal of capturing your memory.

Now that you’ve read about many examples you can implement in your content marketing plan, you are ready to start your content marketing strategy.

Standing Out in the Crowd

At the end of the day, you want to choose content marketing examples for your moving business that appeal to people through emotion (telling powerful stories), personalization when possible (like Share A Coke), and honesty (gaining consumer trust).

The Biggest SEO Mistake Content Marketers Make

his summer, I conducted empathy interviews a bunch of our clients and prospects to understand their content marketing challenges. One big pain point: SEO.

SEO remains a huge part of content marketing, as it should be. High-ranking content creates long-term value for your brand. It’s a key part of what Tomasz Tunguz calls the compounding returns of content marketing.

When you invest in content and a strong SEO strategy, you drive more and more valuable traffic to your site over time, resulting in compounding returns on your content marketing investment.

The problem with SEO is that many companies’ content SEO strategy looks like this:

Step 1: The content team creates a pretty good article.

Step 2: They pass it off to the SEO team, who stuff the piece with a bunch of keywords that make it nearly unreadable and press publish.

Step 3: The content team cries, and the piece doesn’t perform well against search anyway BECAUSE THAT’S NOT HOW SEO WORKS ANYMORE.

Even in 2020, I see this same mistake made over and over again. Instead, marketers should:

A) Factor a target keyword into content planning and production from the beginning, so that it’s naturally integrated into the piece. Since Google has shifted to semantic search, you want to focus on long-tail keywords associated with a question that someone’s trying to answer. (i.e., “What makes good content marketing,” “content marketing tips”). By answering the question at hand, you build SEO into the editorial process and avoid keyword stuffing.

B) Prioritize quality over everything else. Nowadays, Google prioritizes backlinks and E-A-T (Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness) ratings in their rankings. The easiest way to drive both of those up is to create interesting content with original research and reporting related to your industry. You need to create content that inspires people to link, share, and spend time on page. And you need Google to see you as an expert in the core topics you’re covering.

In 2020, this is what matters. Traditional keyword stuffing is now terrible for your SEO. And mediocre content that won’t earn links is essentially worthless. Focus on publishing original research and reporting that helps answer your audience’s big questions. Focus on quality over quantity. Bring your SEO team in at the beginning of the content planning process—and then politely kick them out of the editing room. If you do that, I promise: You’ll see greater SEO results this year.

A Quick Guide to Bootstrapping Your Digital Marketing Efforts With SEO

When it comes to digital marketing for startups, SEO has the best ROI of all efforts you can possibly engage in. The only thing that comes close is going viral on social media, but that is not nearly as predictable and nowhere near as sustainable or scalable.

Building a company requires playing the long game, and SEO is a perfect complement to that mindset. Organic search optimization allows you to drive traffic to your website you would otherwise be paying for. If done right, you can sustain that traffic for years or more. Here’s how to get it done right.

Research the Right Keyword Opportunities

SEO isn’t just about generating more website traffic, it’s about attracting the right kinds of visitors. Focus on “buyer keywords,” which are keywords that have the highest potential to turn into a customer, as they are the types of words and phrases your prospects are most likely to use when searching.

With SEO, it’s possible to get 1,000 visits and generate no leads/customers, or get 100 visitors and generate 10 leads, depending on the type of keywords that are getting the traffic. Start your research by talking to your actual customers (ideally) or least to customer-facing staff in sales and support functions.

As an example, if you’re selling a sales CRM platform, a keyword phrase like “tips for sales people” might be good, but a term like “tools to increase sales productivity” might be better. The best one to target is of probably “best CRM for sales” (though that is likely to be difficult to rank for due to high competition).

Many companies don’t have the budget to launch a full-scale digital marketing campaign. Startups and small businesses have to be clever enough to stay lean and still find ways to scale their business growth.

How to use SEO in our digital marketing programThat’s no easy task, and it requires a lot of sweat equity investment from the team—though not necessarily a lot of spending. Here’s how to use search engine optimization (SEO) and other digital marketing tactics to grow your business without a huge chunk of capital.

Break the Internet! How to Launch a Successful Digital Marketing Campaign for Your Law Firm

Did you know that 15 percent of state surveys miss actual harm and jeopardy nursing home residents are facing?

When these cases come to light, these people need legal representation. If they don’t know about your law firm, they won’t be able to contact you. The ability for people to be able to find your business is why you need an effective digital marketing campaign.

In this article, we are going to talk about marketing a law practice and how you can use the internet to get in front of your target market.

Launching a Successful Digital Marketing Campaign

As you are learning more about launching your firm’s campaign, your goal should be getting your firm in front of your ideal customer. While wide-reaching approach type marketing plans may be the norm, you don’t want normal. When you have a well-planned campaign, you will be able to pass your competition with smart law firm marketing ideas.

When you become a lawyer, you probably didn’t expect to need to learn digital marketing skills for your business. While you may not have gone to school for marketing, you’ll need to get good at it if you want to bring in a steady stream of clients.

Focus on UX (User Experience)

User experience should be the center of your marketing efforts. Your website should allow potential clients to find what they need easily.

Setting up your site’s navigation in a common-sense way will make it easier for people to use the site. Keep visible options to a minimum so extra buttons don’t distract users from taking desired actions. Important call to actions should be positioned strategically.

Use YouTube to Get in Front of Potential Clients

Video marketing is a powerful way to get your message in front of your target market. When people watch your videos, it is easier for them to connect with your image than words on a page.

When you use video marketing, do keyword research to find terms you want to rank. You might want to rank for terms in your local area, such as lawyer in your city or attorney in your city. Optimizing your videos for certain terms helps your videos show up in the right places.

Make Sure Your Website Is up to Speed

Most legal professionals haven’t checked their website’s speed performance. If your website loads slow, you are likely losing website traffic. Websites that take more than a few seconds to load don’t satisfy visitors’ need for instant gratification.

Downsizing images or using fewer images on a page helps reduce loading times. Remove complicated scripts and any elements you don’t need from your site. If you use the CMS WordPress, make sure you aren’t using any plugins that you don’t need.

4 Tips For Creating A Successful Link Building Strategy

Nowadays, many businesses leverage search engine optimization (SEO) to boost their credibility, visibility and trustworthiness online. With the online market being so highly competitive and oversaturated, it’s important for companies to have a reliable way to stand out and become more visible. One of the best ways to do that is through SEO. That being said, one of the major activities for SEO is link building. Efficient link building helps you build relevancy as an industry expert.

It also helps you expand your reach on the market and gives potency to your content. Not only that, but high-quality backlinks share the first place with content as the most important factor for rankings on search engines, such as Google. That being said, creating high-quality backlinks requires a good link building strategy and the right approach that will yield value to your business. Here are a few tips for creating such a successful link building strategy.

1.Know your target audience well

Understanding your target audience is the key to having a successful link building strategy. The main reason is that you must craft links and content that is in accordance with your audiences’ preferences and likings. Otherwise, you’re simply wasting time on building irrelevant links that won’t yield any interest or drive more traffic to your website for that matter.

Therefore, you should conduct some thorough market research and find out as much as you can about your audience. For instance, who they are, what their interests are, what their needs and expectations are, as well as what their core demographics are. That will tell you more about what type of content to create for both your audience and for your link building campaign.

2.Seek out relevant sources for your links

When creating quality backlinks, it’s important to do so on credible and reputable sources. The main reason is that the more credibility and domain authority your sources have, the more credibility you gain in return. Not only that, but you must also target sources, such as websites and blogs your target audience visits or follows.

That way, the links you build on those sources will be more efficient and will engage your audience and help you build awareness. A good way to start would be to identify good guest posting sources. By becoming a contributor on relevant blogs, you ensure that your audience notices and shows interest in you. In addition, you’re positioning yourself as an expert, which will help you build trust with your audience.

The Easy Guide to Broken Link Building for SEO

These days, finding good-quality links for SEO purposes is as challenging as it’s ever been. Not only should your links appear within the editorial content of a page, they should be naturally acquired and placed on pages that are relevant to your own website’s content.

But ever since Google’s Penguin update, fewer and fewer opportunities exist to obtain backlinks that meet these criteria. If you’ve exhausted your email link building and guest posting efforts, another option to consider is broken link building.

What Is a Broken Link?

A broken link is when you click on a link and it takes you to a 404 page. Broken links are also often referred to as “dead links,” as the page you were directed to is now dead.

Even if you have tried broken link building in the past and say it doesn’t work, you probably weren’t doing it correctly. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you why in this article.

The process of broken link building involves seeking out website pages in your industry with broken links in their content and then contacting their webmasters to offer your own content or link as a replacement for these dead URLs. If you’ve struggled to find new link building opportunities in the past, read on to find out exactly how this useful process can be implemented on your own website.

1) How to Find Broken Links: Identifying Web Pages

The first step in the broken link building process is figuring out how to find broken links. It’s not as hard as you might think.

If you’re going to contact webmasters with broken links and recommend that your own URL replace the dead references you’ve identified, the obvious first step in this process is to find web pages that contain these outdated links. There are a few different ways you can do this depending on your time constraints and budget.

CitationLab’s Broken Link Finder (Big Budget)

If you’re short on time and long on extra cash, CitationLab’s Broken Link Finder tool will automate the entire process of identifying dead links on pages throughout your industry. Depending on your marketing budget, investing in a program like this can be a great way to build the largest possible number of links in the smallest amount of time.

8 Tips to Increase Your Organic Page Ranking

Google has released a flurry of algorithm updates in the first half of 2018, which has made it difficult for SEO professionals to work out exactly which tactics are working to help sites rank at the top of organic search results. Whether a website has been practicing white hat, grey hat, or even black hat SEO, the entire industry has been affected by the recent updates.

How to rank better in 2018To make things more challenging, Google hasn’t provided any indication of what factors may be contributing to SEO improvement or deterioration. SEO pros know there have been algorithm changes. They just can’t identify exactly how they have been affected.

Despite the uncertainty, there are still certain practices that stand the test of time with SEO. So, if you want to virtually guarantee an improvement in your website’s organic search position, here are a few ideas you should implement in addition to on-page optimization.

Ensure that all of your site’s 301 redirects are going to the right URLs.

It’s likely your website has permanent (301) redirects pointing to the wrong URLs or even broken links that are sending 404 error messages to search engine crawlers. Your URLs have a certain amount of PageRank associated with them. If you want a percentage of the PageRank from these web pages passed onto your new URLs so the authority passes throughout the website, you need to correctly implement 301 redirects.

You can view your redirects either by running a crawler on your website, analysing the server logs, or viewing the list in your redirection plugin (if you have one installed).

Analyse your server logs.

The server logs will unearth the most valuable technical data for your site’s SEO campaign. They will show the exact timings and navigation path that search engine crawlers take on your website. It’s essential that you analyse the URL paths, redirections, loading success, or errors flagged in the server logs.

Additionally, you will need to identify how many URLs the search engine crawler is visiting each time it’s on your website. This way, you can optimise your “crawl budget” to ensure the search engine crawler finds and indexes the URLs and the content that you want it to access on your website.

Add a responsive mobile design to your website.

Google continues to put more emphasis on mobile-friendly websites. The easiest solution is to add a mobile-responsive design for smartphones, tablets and other portable devices. If your site is also configured to a mobile application, Google provides developer guidelines to allow users searching from mobile devices to open the app directly from the organic search result.

Add AMP to your site’s content pages.
\
If your website hosts informative articles, blog posts or news articles, you’ll want to incorporate accelerated mobile pages (AMP) on your site. This will allow you to serve content more quickly on mobile devices. Google tends to look favourably on sites that incorporate AMP.

Automate SEO activities with Sheer SEO

Minimize your web page size to improve the loading speed.
Web page loading time is important because the search engine crawler will attempt to download as many pages as it can to crawl and index the web content. If a web page size is too large, it will slow down the crawling process and may force the crawler to leave the website prematurely.

Aim to limit the size of your web pages to 1MB or less. This should allow the crawler to download and crawl more pages, thus improving the organic search visibility of the website.

Online Marketing 101: Matching Tone, Style, And Content

Every digital marketer should strive to create campaigns with consistent and unique styles to set their company apart from the competition. What’s more, generating content with a unified style in mind is one of the best ways to establish to establish a strong brand identity in the digital world. And given the fact that many companies chiefly interact with their customers through digital media, developing a well-defined marketing “voice,” is a must for just about every business. To that end, today we’ll explore how companies across industries can create blogs, social media posts, and advertisements that share a common theme, message, and tone. (Plus, we’ll explain why it’s so important to stay on-point and on-message as much as you can!)

B2B vs B2C Content

What your business does on a day-to-day basis should have a major effect on the type of marketing content you produce. Obviously, B2B businesses should have vastly different strategies than B2C companies. To dive a little deeper: B2C businesses need to make content that energizes and excites their customer base and focuses on customer experience. They’re looking to inspire people to make snap decisions –– or even impulse buys –– and their marketing efforts should reflect that. Conversely, B2B businesses can write more in-depth, industry-specific pieces, since they often deal with niche audiences. You’re not going to convince someone to spend ten thousand dollars on lab equipment because of a catchy tagline, for example –– so it’s best not to even explore that route.

Don’t be Afraid to Stand Out

Every business owner should understand that what makes their company different, should also make it valuable. Don’t consider your company to be “small;” think of it instead as “agile.” Instead of “inexperienced,” be “enthusiastic.” The point is, whatever makes your company unique should be an asset that you consistently underline in your marketing work. Trying to cover up any supposed “deficiencies” in your writing will likely come across as desperate at best, and off-putting at worst.

Understand Your Place

If you’re ever going to create marketing content that engages your audience, you need to understand what your readers expect from your business. For instance, a party bus company can adopt a more carefree and relaxed vibe in their marketing content than a law firm ever could. Knowing how you fit into your customers’ or clients’ lives is critical in forming an effective brand identity. Alternatively, there’s nothing worse than company that’s tone-deaf online and makes inappropriate comments online. Remember: when in doubt, stick to what you know best. It’ll serve you well in the long run.

SEO Generates Leads

SEO Best Practices for Landing Page Optimization

There’s been a competition going on between PPC and SEO for quite some time. And while there are pros and cons to both traffic-generation strategies, one of the best pro-PPC arguments has always been that PPC drives more targeted traffic.

But organic search engine optimization can deliver highly-targeted traffic, too – if you direct and qualify that traffic properly. Landing pages are the perfect tool to do it.

If you’re skeptical, take a look at the chart below from a survey of B2B marketers. “Search engine advertising” does beat out “organic search” by a little, but SEO comes in very close, and is among the best sources of traffic for high-quality leads overall.

Here’s an adjusted version of the chart, with only organic search and paid search for a clearer comparison:

So the two channels are actually neck and neck for high-quality lead generation. Add in the ability landing pages have to focus and convert the free traffic coming from the search engines, and SEO looks even better.

Because landing pages can convert organic traffic. Here are a few charts to prove it.

This alone can be valuable data. If you can estimate what a reasonable conversion rate would be, and you know roughly how many organic searches are happening for the keyword you want to target, all you need to know next is what a potential click-through rate from the search results might be.

Search click-through rate varies from position to position, but this recently-updated research about CTR per search position tells us that if you could get your landing page into say, third position, you’d get a click-through rate of about 9.75%.

15 Questions to Ask When Hiring an SEO Professional (Seriously)

Organic (non-paid) search is the largest single source of visits for most B2B websites. The majority of sites generate between 40% and two-thirds of their total traffic from search. Making sure your site is as highly visible as possible in search and maximizing visits requires professional SEO helpwhether that comes from inside your company, or from an expert SEO consultant or agency.

If you’re hiring SEO expertise from the outside, how do you make sure you’ve found the best expert or agency for your needs?

How to hire an SEO expert

First, ask other business owners and marketing leaders, in your network or your favorite LinkedIn group, for references. These are often your best leads.

Second, do some online research. But beware of guides written by SEO professionals that are really more about why you should hire them than about making the best choice. (Since I’ve now
left the consulting world, nope, back at it—but this post is still my most objective guidance.)

Third, once you have a shortlist of SEO consultants or agencies to consider, ask them the following 15 questions to help ensure you select a resource who can both meet your needs and is someone you’ll enjoy working with.

1) What are the most important factors in search engine ranking, and how will you help me get better results?

This isn’t really a question of knowledge (any experienced SEO pro should be able to answer without fumbling for words). Rather, it’s a question designed to get at the consultant’s communication skills. Can they provide not only an accurate explanation, but also answer in a way you understand clearly? Or do they excessively throw out jargon and acronyms?

Good answer: something about how two factors—relevance and authority—form the fundamental underpinnings of search ranking; something about the hundreds of individual elements Google and other search engines use in determining rank; something about the three pillars of SEO (technical, content, and off-page); and perhaps something about how certain fundamental practices remain constant (e.g., writing to solve specific problems for specific types of people) even as search engine algorithms continually evolve.

Seven Tips for Hiring An SEO Freelancer

Considering more than  90% of online purchases start with a search engine, and nearly 60% of B2B marketers say organic search generates more leads than any other marketing tactics, your number one digital marketing goal should be getting your site onto the front page of search engines.

7 tips for hiring an SEO consultant people should be able to find your blog or website with just a few clicks. Search engine optimization (SEO) practices have changed significantly over the years, but remain at the core of digital strategy.

Between Google’s history of algorithm updates and increased competition, running an SEO campaign by yourself can be harder than you think. That’s why many people seek the help of an SEO expert. But finding an SEO specialist with the right mix of writing ability, technical skill, and industry knowledge to get your website on the front page may not be easy.

You have to make sure you are on the same page (so to speak) and share the same view. Marketing agencies bring a diverse mix of talent, though they can end up charging a small fortune. If you run or manage marketing for a small to midsized business, an SEO freelancer might be the best answer for you.

But with the abundance of freelancers on the market, how can you make sure you find the right fit? Here are seven tips that can help you make the right decision.

Be Specific with Your Requests and Deadlines

Before beginning your search for the perfect SEO match, get as specific as possible about what you are looking for. Coming up with a description for your project will help the freelancer build a proposal for discussion.

Most freelance websites that connect employers with specialists allow you to put together a description of the project and let freelancers submit proposals you can choose from. A description should give information about your business, expectations, and deadline. Drawing up a clear description of your request will ease the communication between you and the freelancer and help you find the best match.

Let's dive into how to understand social media marketing metrics and discuss which you should be measuring.

Just because you're posting content doesn't mean you're reaching a large enough audience. If you aren't, you won't see the engagement and conversion rates you desire to achieve.

Combining this metric with your engagement rate can help paint a broader picture of how well your social media campaign is doing. For instance, you can take the amount of engagement (clicks, shares, and comments) and divide this by reach. The percentage will tell you many of the people you're reaching are participating.

This is critical to identifying your influence and whether or not you're targeting the right people.
